Let's climb mountains together

To move. To be of healthy mind, body, and spirit we need to move. We know how beneficial it is to move our bodies and engage in physical activity, yet sometimes it can be difficult. It is especially difficult when that movement is a preplanned form of exercise. It can hurt, we can feel defeated, scared, embarrassed, out of shape, low on time, low on energy, or totally lost. This happens to the best of us, even those who know the joy of exercise, and have even participated in sport at a very high level. So how do we break down those barriers and start or (maybe more likely) start up again, create a habit of healthy activity? Once we start, how do we keep going? What inspires us to get in motion and stay in motion? And most importantly, how can we make it fun?
Even though I am a former DI track & field athlete, have a BS in Kinesiology, MS in Sport and Exercise Psychology and have a lot coaching experience, I have personally had many set backs in physical fitness. I have suffered so many injuries as an athlete and since then it has been REALLY difficult to get back into shape and to be motivated to do so - not to mention somehow trying to find the time and energy! The biggest struggle is comparing myself to who I was and who I could have been, plaguing myself with negative self-talk. As much as I hate Facebook and other social media at times, I really began to appreciate learning of others’ accomplishments and challenges they have been through training and getting healthy and fit, these Facebook posts honestly motivate me want to get out there and try again. It gave me an idea. I want to start a blog, online community, and offer my help to those who need it.
I want to help others get motivated, create a habit, a lifestyle of health, wellness, fitness and performance. After all, I have learned a lot of what to do and maybe even more of what NOT to do, I I want to use my experience and knowledge to not only help athletes with sport performance as I have been doing for years, but help others of all abilities achieve their goals while striving towards my own.
